Thanks to our guide, finding and using a Windows 11 download has never been easier. While Windows 11 isn’t exactly “new,” it is Microsoft’s most recent and up-to-date operating system with a slew of useful features worth exploring, so now might be the best time to upgrade to Windows 11.

Windows 11 includes some fantastic features, such as a revamped Start menu and Widgets. The design has been improved to be more fluid and seamless, and the newest operating system places a strong emphasis on gaming, which is excellent for PC gamers. Above all, a Windows 11 download will provide you with all of the most recent updates to make.

Windows 11 was released in October 2021, making it nearly six months old at this point. Using a Windows 11 download now means that any bugs in the software have most likely already been worked out or a patch has been released to address them. If you have problems with Windows 11, you can easily learn how to fix common Windows 11 problems.

When will an update for Windows 11 be released?

Unlike Windows 10, which received updates every six months, Windows 11 will only receive feature updates once per year; the first official Windows 11 update is expected in late 2022. In the meantime, Windows 11 has received updates to iron out bugs and add minor features.

The Windows Subsystem for Android, which allows you to download and install a limited number of Android apps to your PC via the Amazon Appstore, is one of the new features added to Windows 11. There’s also a weather icon in the taskbar, as well as newly redesigned Media Player and Notepad apps.

If you’re thinking about switching from your current operating system to download Windows 11, weigh the benefits and drawbacks of your current system versus Windows 11. Windows 11’s new features make it a fantastic operating system, but you may dislike the new user interface or the fact that it is incomplete in the sense that new features will be added in future updates.

How to Get Windows 11?

Before you begin, ensure that your PC meets the Windows 11 minimum specifications listed above. If it does, you should back up your PC before proceeding.

This ensures that if something goes wrong – and updating to a new operating system is costly or risky – your important files and settings can be restored.

After that, navigate to Microsoft’s Windows 11 download page.

1. Upgrade the device you’re using.

The simplest way to download and install Windows 11 is to upgrade the device you’re currently using. Click ‘Download Now’ on the Windows 11 download page.

Then, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install Windows 11 on your device.

2. Use a DVD or USB to install Windows 11 on another computer.

If you want to install Windows 11 on another computer, go to the ‘Create Windows 11 Installation Media’ section and click ‘Download now’.

This will download a tool for formatting a USB drive and installing a bootable copy of the Windows 11 installation media. This can also be accomplished with a blank DVD.

A USB drive with at least 8GB of storage is required. Make sure there are no important files on it because it will erase everything. If you need to buy a USB drive, take a look at our recommendations.

To create a bootable USB or DVD, use the Media Creation Tool. After that, insert it into the PC on which you want to install Windows 11 and restart the device.

You may need to get the PC to boot from the inserted USB or DVD. When your manufacturer’s logo appears on the screen, press F12 or F2 (depending on the manufacturer) to enter the boot menu. This is where you tell the computer to boot from your install disc rather than Windows as usual.

When the boot menu appears, select whether you want to boot from USB or DVD, then press enter. The Windows 11 installer should launch from here, and you’ll be well on your way to a clean install.

3. Run a clean installation of Windows 11 from an ISO file.

The steps outlined above will upgrade your Windows 10 computer to Windows 11. If you want to start from scratch, you can download the Windows 11 ISO.

Choose Windows 11 under ‘Select edition.’ After you’ve downloaded the ISO, you’ll need to use it to create a bootable USB or DVD.

How to Get Windows 11 Beta and Insider Builds

Even though the final version of Windows 11 is now available for download, some people may still want to try out early Windows 11 insider builds.

This is because Microsoft will continue to update Windows 11 in the coming months and years, just as it did with Windows 10, and if you sign up for Windows 11 insider builds, you’ll be able to test out new features before anyone else.

For example, while Android apps are finally making their way to the Microsoft Store in Windows 11, the feature appears to be delayed until 2022. People using Windows 11 Insider builds, on the other hand, will be able to test this feature first.

As a result, you should only sign up if you’re desperate to try out new Windows 11 features as soon as possible, as there may be issues and bugs. If you want a more stable experience, stick with Windows 11’s release version.

If you’re feeling brave, however, here’s how to get the Windows 11 beta and Insider Builds.

1. Become a member of the Windows Insider Program

To do so, open the Settings app and navigate to ‘Update & Security’, then ‘Windows Insider Program.’

To join the ‘Windows Insider Program,’ click ‘Get started’ in the ‘Windows Insider Program’ window. From the window that appears, select your Microsoft Account and click ‘Continue.’

2. Select a Channel

People using the Dev Channel can access very early Windows 11 Insider builds. This is intended for app developers and gives them access to very early versions of Windows 11. Again, make sure you’re willing to install what’s likely to be an early build with a number of bugs.

You can also select the Beta Channel, which isn’t as early but provides a more stable experience while still providing early access to features (just not as early).

Then, there’s the Release Preview Channel. This is essentially the version of Windows 11 that most people use, but with a few early features. This is the most stable build, but it also means you’ll have to wait longer to try out new features. However, this method is still faster than using Windows 11.

If you just want a PC that works normally, we recommend sticking with Windows 11 for the time being. If you really want to try out Windows 11, on the ‘Pick your Insider settings’ page that appears, select the channel you want to join, then ‘Confirm.’

Another window will appear, explaining what to expect from this early build. Click ‘Confirm’ if you are ready to proceed.

You must then restart your computer. Check that everything is saved before clicking ‘Restart Now’ in the window that appears.

3. Windows 11 download and install Insider Preview build

Open the Windows Update app after restarting your computer. You can do so by typing ‘Windows Update’ into the search bar in Windows 10’s taskbar.

You can also access it by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

Click ‘Check for updates’ in the resulting window. The Windows 11 Insider Preview build should appear, and you can download and install it just like any other Windows 10 update.

How to Install Windows 11 Without TPM 2.0?

Many people have discovered that they are unable to Windows 11 download and install because their PC lacks TPM 2.0. This is a physical chip found in many modern PCs (or built into their processors) that functions as a “secure crypto-processor,” making your device more secure by preventing malicious software from running.

If your PC does not support TPM 2.0, you will receive an error message when attempting to install it, stating that your PC does not meet Windows 11 system requirements.

If this occurs and you still want to install Windows 11, there is a way to bypass the TPM requirement, but this should only be attempted by people who are comfortable with the risks involved.

It’s a complicated process, so read our guide on how to upgrade to Windows 11 without TPM 2.0 for the full rundown, including an examination of the risks involved.
